Quality Manufacturing of Office Furniture Components

A client of ours at Aero Engineering approached us about producing the desk beams highlighted here. Having worked with them before, they were impressed with our high standard of quality as well as prompt and reliable service. The client had been sourcing these parts from overseas and was experiencing delays with delivery, which was exacerbated when they found the parts to be of sub-par quality, especially with the surface finish.
As a critical visual and structural element of an office desk, sourcing quality parts with a color-matched and blemish-free finish was a priority. With our expertise for machining parts with extremely close tolerances and fine surface finishes, we were able to provide them with a solution that met their budgetary and turnaround time requirements.
Constructed from anodized aluminum and featuring dimensions of 4′ to 8′ in length x 3″ in width x 6″ in height, the parts were oversized and heavy. We created master samples, which were inspected for appearance, size, and functionality. Production machining took place on our high-caliber gantry-type CNC machining center equipped with an on-board probing system. This gave us a stable platform for easy setup and integration of in-process quality monitoring right at the machine. Additional quality assurance procedures involved checking the workpieces using purpose-built go/no-go gauges and vernier scale measuring instruments.
Throughout fabrication and inspection, we observed safe material handling practices to ensure that the beams were not marred or damaged as they moved to the different stations within our shop. We completed the production cycle, from beginning to packaging for safe transport, within 10 days. The client was very pleased with the quality and expedited delivery, and we continue to manufacture these desk beams at the rate of 7,000 to 12,000 units on an annual basis.
